Today was a great day. I spoke at MinneBar in Minneapolis. I guess the conference had about 600 registered attendees and from the looks of things, most people showed up. I really wanted to participate in this conference, but my schedule didn’t leave much room for writing another speech or two, having already given five speeches in the previous three weeks.
I decided to give up on the idea of doing a Silverlight speech, which would likely be a first look for most of the conference attendees, based on the sampling I met. All the Silverlight speeches I already have prepared are far too much of a deep dive. Instead I decided to take the “Being a Technology Entrepreneur” speech I’ve given a few times this month, cut out the “product” stuff and focus on the consulting in an effort to get the content down to 45 minutes.
The night before the conference I started pruning slides, finding that I had a few additional pieces of information to add. By morning, I had more new content, than old. For those that are interested in the final results, please download the
“Success in Software Consulting” slides.
If you are interested in the original “Being a Technology Entrepreneur” speech, as well as a wonderful collection of entrepreneur tips, please see the blog post from 4/30/2010.
I received some great feedback on the speech, and made some good contacts as a result. My sincerest thanks goes out to Luke, Ben, and all those involved in hosting a great conference at MinneBar.
